A man has been charged with the murder of a 22-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in west London, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Police were called to the junction of Bath Road and Great South West Road in Hounslow at 01:47 BST on 30 June, following reports of a knife attack.

Haruun Hassan, who lived locally, was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Awap Halouf, 21, was arrested in Cardiff on Sunday and has since been charged with murder and possession of a blade in a public place. He has been remanded in custody and is due before Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old woman who was arrested in Cardiff on suspicion of murder has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

The Met has said the victim's next-of-kin are being supported by specialist officers.

Det Ch Insp Paul Waller said: "Our thoughts remain with Haruun's family during this very difficult time."

The investigation remains ongoing and police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
