Man found shot dead inside car named by police

Masum Miah was found fatally wounded inside a car in East Ham

A man who was shot dead in east London has been named by police as 42-year-old Masum Miah.

Emergency services were called to reports of gunshots in St Bartholomew's Road, East Ham, at about 03:00 BST on Tuesday.

Miah was found wounded inside a car and died at the scene despite efforts by paramedics, the Metropolitan Police said.

No arrests have been made, and detectives continue to appeal for witnesses. His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

Det Ch Insp Dan Whitten said: "Our thoughts remain with Masum's family as they come to terms with his tragic death.

"If you were in the area at the time of the shooting, witnessed anything suspicious or have any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage that could support our investigation, we urge you to get in touch."
