Three people have appeared in court after a car was rammed into a house on the North Yorkshire coast.

Damian Hadfield, 29, Suzanne Allen, 44, and a 17-year-old boy, all from Hartlepool, appeared at York Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.

All three were charged with conspiracy to blackmail, conspiracy to damage or destroy property, and possessing a knife in a public place. Allen was also charged with dangerous driving.

They are due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on 18 August.

The charges relate to an incident on Sunday when a car was rammed into a house on Hoxton Road in Scarborough at 23:18 BST.

Properties were also damaged in West Street in Scarborough and Grange Avenue in Filey.

A 51-year-old woman who was also arrested remains in police custody for questioning.
