Concerns after two 'monstrous' sinkholes appear
Hsin-Yi Lo/BBCResidents have spoken about their concerns over two sinkholes that have appeared in an East Sussex town.
The first sinkhole in Eversley Road, Bexhill, was reported on 8 April and East Sussex County Council (ESCC) confirmed a second one has opened up in the same road.
Shannon Chambers, who lives in the town, said the sinkholes were a "monstrosity" and looked "absolutely awful".
An ESCC spokesperson said the road remained closed for safety reasons while investigations continued.
Hsin-Yi Lo/BBCThe council added: "It is important the underlying issue is identified before permanent repairs are carried out and we need specialist equipment to do this due to a number of utilities under the road."
Chambers, who said she walked past the sinkholes every day, said: "Considering we've had this problem since April, and now we have a second one, it's worrying that it is taking this long to get anything sorted."
Hsin-Yi LoJay Makhecha, who works at Stevens Tobaccos in St Leonards Road, said the road closure had been "disruptive" to local businesses.
"Parking has always been a bit of struggle and with the road closed and the fact it has gone on for a while, I think it is affecting businesses," he added.
Hsin-Yi Lo/BBCMark Salkind, owner of Salks Barber in Eversley Road, said the road closure had not affected his business.
"But it has taken quite a long time to address," he added.
"I have seen contractors down here on numerous occasions, but it still hasn't been fixed, and now the second one has appeared."
