Killer given hospital order over sister's death
BBCA man has been given an indefinite hospital order for killing his sister.
Michael Bull, 58, called 999 on 6 October 2023 to report that his sister Susan was not breathing at a home they shared on Temple Street in Bedminster, Bristol.
A forensic post-mortem ruled the cause of death could not be established, but a coroner concluded Susan could not have died of natural causes.
Bull was deemed not fit to stand trial in April, but a jury found he was responsible for his sister's death. He was handed an indefinite hospital order at a separate hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday.
As Bull had been deemed unfit to stand trial, a hearing of facts took place in April in his absence.
Det Insp Neil Meade, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Today concludes an incredibly complex investigation which saw officers in our major crime investigation team face several challenges over the past few years.
"Susan's loved ones remain in our thoughts and they have shown incredible strength throughout.
"Today closes the chapter of our investigation, but not the suffering they continue to endure since Susan's death."
