Police are investigating the theft of a bar's safe containing staff tips after three men were caught on CCTV.

The video recorded the men breaking into The Limehouse in Clevedon, North Somerset, at around 02:00 BST on Saturday, before carrying the safe out of the office.

David Jones, the venue's co-owner said that only a few hundred pounds had been stolen, but it included staff tips belonging to "hardworking young team members, many of whom save them up over time".

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said forensics officers had visited the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

Jones said the burglars appeared to have used a waste food bin to transport the heavy safe.

He said the bar has now upgraded security with a motion-detector alarm system and new cash procedures.

"Should our aspiring master criminals decide to return, we can assure them their next trip will be even less financially rewarding," he said.

Avon and Somerset Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
