A man died at Moss Force after slipping and falling

A man in his 70s died after slipping and falling down a waterfall.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) said it went to Moss Force, in Buttermere, Cumbria, after being told the man had fallen "a considerable distance" at about 14:38 BST on 2 August.

Members of the public had tried to help the man before emergency services - including the Great North Air Ambulance - arrived, a spokesperson said.

Cumbria Police said despite everyone's best efforts, the man in his 70s was declared dead.

The force added there were no suspicious circumstances and a file would be prepared for the coroner.
