A carnival of colour as pride celebrations come to city

Thousands of people celebrated Notts Pride on Saturday

Thousands of people embraced this year's Notts Pride theme of "bolder and brighter" as they celebrated in Nottingham city centre.

The iconic festival, the biggest free Pride event in the East Midlands, featured its regular march on Saturday - starting in Lister Gate, through Old Market Square and Lace Market.

Now in its 29th year, the event had an expanded family area and extend into Sneinton Market with performance stages and the city's new Rainbow Quarter in Hockley.

Leigh Ellis, from Notts Pride, said: "Notts Pride is a chance for our whole community to come together, celebrate who we are and show the strength, creativity and diversity of LGBTQ+ people across Nottinghamshire."
