A senior firefighter says he "wishes" a temporary disposable barbecue ban was made permanent.

Firefighters say they have had many calls but cannot tackle barbecues unless it is an emergency.

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said its crews attended hundreds of incidents in a week.

Firefighters believe the blaze at one of Somerset's most "significant regeneration opportunities" was deliberate.

The batteries will not be put back into use until an investigation is carried out.
