Four teenage boys have been arrested after a man walking through a park was threatened with a knife during an attempted robbery.

Police said the 20-year-old man was with a friend at Nottingham Arboretum when he was approached by two boys on electric scooters and two on foot at about 15:40 BST on Sunday.

The teenagers demanded the victim hand over his belongings and he was threatened with a knife when he refused, the force said. No-one was injured and nothing was taken.

Officers arrested the suspects, aged 12, 13, 15, 16, on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article. They remain in police custody.

Sgt Richard Hallam said the incident would have been a "terrifying ordeal" for the victim and his friend, who fled the scene.

"We do not believe we are looking for anyone else in connection with this incident," he said.

"We know the park was fairly busy at this time and the incident would have been witnessed by others."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any with information has been urged to contact police.
