An 18-year-old man remains in hospital with serious injuries after three people were hurt in a stabbing incident.

Police said it happened at about 20:35 BST in East Oval, Kings Heath, Northampton, on Friday, when the man and a 17-year-old were found with knife injuries.

Another man, 20, who sustained a minor injury, left the scene before officers arrived, the force said.

Det Insp Gary Collins said the incident would have caused "a lot of concern in the local community" and members of the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team would remain in the area over the weekend.

"We know Kings Heath is a close-knit community, that was demonstrated last night by those people who assisted the victims at the scene and who spoke to our officers about what they'd witnessed," he added.

The force believes about six people were involved, with five wearing dark clothing and face coverings, and one a white T-shirt and shorts.
