Oil spill causes delays on northbound M1

Two lanes of the northbound M1 have been closed as the emergency services deal with an "extensive oil spillage".

The incident - between junction 14 for Milton Keynes and junction 15 for Northampton - has caused up to four miles of congestion on Thursday, according to National Highways.

Recovery services are at the scene assessing the damage, and National Highways said the road will have to be resurfaced.

Drivers have been warned of ongoing 15-minute delays in the area.
