Fire crews are dealing with a blaze at an unoccupied building in Rushden.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said the incident was in Northampton Road.

The propertywas said to be "well alight" with heavy smoke in the area.

People living nearby are being urged to stay inside and keep their windows and doors closed.

A witness told the BBC the crews were called at about 14:30 BST.

Update 25 August: This headline and the body of this article originally stated that the property was derelict as this was reported to us by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue. We have since amended this to state that it was unoccupied and not derelict after clarification from the fire service.
