Rough seas and high tides has led ot disruption to travel on the Isle of Man

The Manannan catamaran's Liverpool sailing as well as her return journey to the island has been cancelled due to forecasts of adverse weather.

It comes as people brace for high tides around the island's exposed coasts as an amber warning for coastal overtopping is due to come into force from 10:30 GMT and ends at 13:30.

Forecasters at Ronaldsway Met office said debris could spill on to Shore Road, Castletown promenade and Fenella Beach and to some extent northern parts of Peel and Douglas and Laxey Promenades.

A second warning for tidal flooding in Ramsey has also been issued.

Between 11:00 and midday, forecasters said a "large high tide" may cause minor flooding which can impact a few low-lying properties around Riverside Industrial Estate and the banks of the River Sulby on Gardener's Lane.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said sweepers are already working to deal with debris "thrown up by last night's overtopping" and are likely to have further work at the same locations later in the day.

Harbour flood defences remains in place in Ramsey and Castletown.

In the east of the island, Laxey Promenade remains closed to traffic until 16:30.

"There is a considerable amount of beach stone on the road surface, with more likely to be deposited by this morning's high tide," the DOI said.

It added that the road surface there also suffered damage.

"An initial assessment of the damage to the carriageway has been undertaken and it is planned to undertake immediate temporary repairs to make the carriageway safe before it reopens to road users."
