Richmond Hill will be closed Monday to Thursday evenings

The main route to the south of the Isle of Man will be closed in the evenings from Monday to Thursday while maintenance work is carried out.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said Richmond Hill would be shut between 18:30 BST and 22:30.

The work will involve jetting out beanie kerbs and clearing gullies to improve drainage ahead of winter, it said.

The DOI said the closure between Fort North roundabout in Douglas and Ballacutchell Road in Santon would remain in place because there was a risk stones could be thrown into the carriageway during the work.

Diversions will be in place via Kewaigue, Old Castletown Road and Oatlands Road in Santon.

The department said businesses in and around Newtown would remain accessible from Douglas, while residents would still be able to reach their properties.

The closure will not affect scheduled Bus Vannin services.
