Two residential roads in a town are to be shut for months to allow for gas engineering works.

The scheme involves replacing 1,100m of ageing gas pipes in Garrison Lane and Chaucer Road in Felixstowe in Suffolk.

The project, which began on 16 October, is expected to run until 21 February 2027.

Access will continue for residents - and a diversion route will be displayed.

The project involves replacing older gas mains with modern plastic ones, which Cadent says are "more durable and ready for the future".

Most of the work will take place in Garrison Lane, with additional work in Chaucer Road, it added.

Amber Greensmith, head of customer experience at Cadent, said: "The gas pipes in this part of Felixstowe have been working hard for many decades, but it's now time to replace them so we can continue to deliver gas safely and reliably to homes and businesses."

Some properties may face short-term gas supply disruption but advance notice will be given.

A full list of closures can be found on the Cadent website.
