A controversial banner fastened to a play park fence in County Tyrone has been removed by police for a second time.

The first banner was placed on the fence in Moygashel in May, then removed, but was replaced the next day.

Police say it is being treated as a hate crime and the placing of the banner is being investigated as a criminal offence.

Enquiries are ongoing and police have asked anyone with any information to contact them.

Speaking at the time it was first placed on the fence, Sinn Féin assembly member Colm Gildernew said it was the responsibility of political representatives and community leaders to call out the "racist banner".

"This banner has been re-erected solely to sow division in the community," he said.
