Arrest after e-scooter crash injures young girls

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after two girls, aged 11 and 13, were knocked off an e-scooter in West Sussex.

Sussex Police received a report of a crash involving the pair and a blue Ford Transit van on Durrington Lane, Durrington, at about 17:15 BST on Tuesday.

The two girls – the e-scooter's rider and passenger – were taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries and later discharged.

The van driver, a 38-year-old man from Ealing, has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, is urged to contact the force.
