A double-decker tour bus has crashed into a souvenir stand in central London.

The Metropolitan Police was called to Spring Gardens, off Trafalgar Square, to the "damage-only collision".

An eyewitness to the crash, who works at The Admiralty pub on the corner of Spring Gardens, said the hop-on, hop-off bus run by Golden Tours hit a lamppost and knocked it over, before striking the stall and pushing it into a Land Rover.

The London Ambulance Service said it did not attend as there were no reported injuries.

A spokesperson for Golden Tours said they were aware of the crash and were investigating the circumstances.

"The wellbeing and safety of our passengers, staff and members of the public are always our highest priority," they said.

"Incidents of this nature are extremely rare, and we take all matters relating to safety very seriously.

"We will be in a better position to provide further information once we have established the full facts."
