Man dies in lorry crash after car breaks down

A pedestrian died after being hit by a HGV lorry while walking towards his broken-down car, police said.

Officers were called to the scene on the A46 southbound between Oversley Green and Salford Priors, near Alcester, Warwickshire, shortly before 03:45 BST on Friday.

The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, died at the scene, according to the Warwickshire force.

A 55-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

The force is appealing for any witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the crash to get in contact.
