Armed police sent out over fake Halloween weapon

Armed police were called after a woman was seen carrying a weapon which turned out to be a Halloween prop.

Thames Valley Police was called to Bicester Road in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, at about 13:15 BST yesterday following the report.

It found the woman at nearby Friars Square Shopping Centre with plastic Halloween-style accessories.

The force said: "In the lead up to Halloween, we would like to remind the public to be mindful when going outside with Halloween accessories that imitate or look like weapons."

Commenters on Facebook claimed to have seen the woman walking in the middle of roads in front of vehicles, before police were called.
