Labour leader hails results days after giving birth
BBCThe Labour leader of Lincoln council said she was "very tired and sleep deprived" after election campaigning just a few days after giving birth.
Naomi Tweddle said she was "delighted" that her party had retained control of the city, despite losing three seats.
Speaking at the count on Thursday, Tweddle said her baby had arrived on Sunday.
"It's my third child, so I've done it a few times before," she said.
"I think it's important in times like this, good or bad, to show leadership and to come out" adding "I'm going to go home to bed, though."
Labour has controlled the City of Lincoln Council for the past 15 years and reached the target of 17 seats to continue running the authority.
Reform UK made the biggest gain taking four seats, with the Liberal Democrats and Green Party winning one each. The Conservatives lost all three seats they contested.
Tweddle said despite Labour struggling nationally the local result "was a pretty good victory".
"I think it's a real vote of confidence in Labour in Lincoln," she said.
"We're a council that delivers day in, day out, and that's just what we're going to continue to do starting tomorrow."
