The new W3 bus route runs every half an hour from about 07:05, reaching its last stop at about 19:43

A new weekday bus service has begun to help "connect communities", a council has said.

The W3 route now operates between Wellingborough town centre and the Kingsway area, as well as an off-peak service to Sainsbury's supermarket.

It is operated by CommMiniBus and has been part-funded by North Northamptonshire Council.

Chris Wong, from the company, said he was "delighted" to have welcomed residents on board and hopes a Saturday service will start soon.

"The new route connects to other services in the town centre, helping residents further their travel to places including Rushden Lakes and the railway station, where they can use the national rail services", Wong added.

Reform UK councillor Chris McGiffen, the executive member for highways and travel, said: "We are committed to connecting communities - this new route is a welcome addition to our network and is a great way for people to get to work, pick up some shopping or meet up with family.

"I would encourage residents to use this new route as an alternative mode of transport."
