A three-year-old is attempting to become the youngest person to hike all 214 of the Wainwright fells.

Navy and his family moved to Cumbria earlier this year and love going on walks in the fells and he has currently hiked 412 miles and climbed 188,000 ft (35.6 miles) of cumulative ascent..

Dad Daniel said he did some research and found the youngest person on record for climbing all the Wainwrights was 4 years and 10 months old.

He said the hikes are good for the family and they hope seeing their progress is "inspiring people to get out there from a younger age".

Dad Daniel, mum Leanne, sister Jessica and brother Oliver have tackled all of the fells together with Navy.

Daniel said: "I think hiking and being outdoors makes you have a close bond and the great thing about hiking is that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

"If you go to the zoo or a family day out, they all cost money whereas hiking you can just drive to a location or take the bus."

Navy's family are keen to help him enjoy the outdoors

Daniel said the key to maintaining motivation has been to tackle fells every day rather than take breaks in between.

"He's quite keen to get going," he said.

"I think one of the things that really helps is we try to do it every day or every other day.

"The minute you take a break it is quite hard to get going again."

With just 38 fells to go to finish the Wainwrights, the family are now setting their sights on future hiking challenges.
