Tributes to man who 'lived life to the max'
LDRSTributes have been paid at the funeral of a man "who lived life to the max" after he drowned jumping into a river to cool off following a night out.
Gavin Campbell, originally from Worcester, was pulled from the River Wensum in Norwich, in the early hours of 31 May.
The 42-year-old had moved to Great Yarmouth in 2025 and often went down to the beach after work to swim in the sea, his mum Jane Mallice said.
His family, who have previously called for others to stay away from the water during heatwaves, said he would "remain in our hearts forever".
LDRSCampbell's funeral took place at Vale Crematorium in Evesham on Tuesday, as family and friends packed into the chapel, while others around the world watched via a live stream.
His sister Samantha, holding a white rose, paid tribute to "the best big brother" who had "the biggest smile and best, loud laugh".
"I can't believe you're gone, Gav, and can't believe I'm never going to be able to pick up the phone and hear your voice again," she said.
"The memories and love for Gavin will remain in our hearts forever."
LDRSCampbell was born at Ronkswood Hospital in Worcester and attended school in the city before working as a chef and carer.
His family said his career took him to Crewe and then Great Yarmouth, but "despite moving away, his heart remained in Worcester".
