Nick Daly, 30, has been charged with sending hateful messages to a Muslim organisation

A man has appeared in court accused of sending hateful messages to a Muslim organisation and the Israeli embassy, as well as death threats to an MP's office.

Nick Daly, 30, of Oxted in Surrey, is charged with nine counts of sending communication conveying an indecent or offensive message and one count of sending communication threatening death or serious harm, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

He is also charged with one count of possession of an offensive weapon and one count of possession of cannabis.

Daly spoke at Guildford Magistrates' Court only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Eight of the charges relate to allegedly sending Islamophobic communications to a Muslim organisation and one count is in connection with him allegedly sending antisemitic messages to the Israeli embassy, the CPS said.

The alleged incidents happened between 27 January and 7 May.

The CPS said it had authorised criminal charges following a review of evidence referred to it by Surrey Police.
