A 53-year-old man has been charged after Class A drugs worth an estimated £1.4m were seized in County Down.

Detectives made the discovery following a house search in Mourne Drive in Warrenpoint on Thursday morning.

A large quantity of suspected cocaine was seized alongside a sum of cash and electronic items.

The man has been charged with possession of class A controlled drugs with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of a class A controlled drug.

A police spokesperson said: "This significant seizure is the result of ongoing investigations relating to the supply of controlled drugs in the County Down area.

"We are actively committed to removing dangerous drugs from our streets while disrupting and arresting those involved in the drugs trade.

The police said support from the public is "crucial" in these investigations.
