Four men have been arrested after a skip lorry crashed into a house in Edinburgh last month.

Police sealed off the streets around Brand Drive in the Portobello area on 26 May as the vehicle was left lodged in the front of the terraced home, which had been caved in by the impact.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Earlier, officers raided six properties in the Kilmarnock and Darvel areas in East Ayrshire and the men, aged 24, 31, 39 and 41, were charged with culpable and reckless conduct.

Police also seized items in connection with the incident.

Det Insp Gavin Howat said: "Criminality affects the lives of local people on a daily basis.

"Operations such as these disrupt criminal activity, as well as addressing the concerns raised by local people."

The men are due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.
