Warrant issued for man charged over fatal crash
BBCAn arrest warrant has been issued after a man – charged in connection with a collision in which a man died – failed to attend court.
Nuno Spinola, 37, of Upham Road, Swindon - who was due to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Thursday - has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The charge relates to a crash at the junction of Upham Road and Southview Avenue on 17 June 2024 between a Volkswagen Golf driven by Spinola and a pedestrian, Wiltshire Police said.
Jonathan Neilan, 59, was declared dead at the scene. The force said its thoughts continue to be with his friends and family.
Wiltshire PoliceNeilan's family previously said in a statement:
"Jonathan was a loving husband, father, son-in-law and much more.
"He enjoyed doing a lot of things, including volunteering for Sea Cadets for many years.
"Jon was into his cars, riding his motorbike and boating. He enjoyed doing gardening and loved his gadgets and technology.
"Animals were a big part of Jon's life and happiness.
"He was a big part of the community and loved by so many."
Commenting on the two-year gap between the incident and charge, Wiltshire Police said they had to wait for forensic and pathology results, the outsourcing of CCTV and liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
