Men fined for dumping sofas in car park
Two men have been fined £800 each after they illegally dumped two sofas in a car park.
The fly-tipping took place at Beck Gardens, a housing association property in Grantham on 26 April, according to video footage.
Details of the vehicle involved were passed to South Kesteven District Council which allowed them to identify the two men responsible.
Councillor Rhys Baker, cabinet member for environment and waste, said: "Fly-tipping has a detrimental impact on our communities and is an offence we take very seriously."
The two men were handed £800 fixed-penalty notices, which were reduced to £400 due to early payment.
The council said it encouraged residents to report any fly-tipping, providing information such as vehicle registration numbers, photographs and details about the location and time of the incident where possible.
Baker said the fines were "a reminder that there can be significant consequences for those who choose to dump their waste illegally".
