Police said a person was in hospital in a serious but stable condition

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Guernsey Police said the woman had been arrested on Sunday morning after a person had been urgently taken to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital where they were in a serious but stable condition.

They said there had been an increased police presence in the area of Victoria Avenue in St Sampson where crime scene investigators were working at a property.

Det Supt Jonathan Bancroft said such incidents were "thankfully very rare occurrences in Guernsey" and officers were not currently looking for any further suspects.

He said: "I'd like to take this opportunity to reassure islanders that we are not currently searching for any further suspects.

"There is no information at present that suggests any wider risk."

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
