A Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) will stage a flypast over the RAF Museum Midlands in Shropshire on Sunday.

There will be three flypasts over the Cosford site from about 14:55 BST, the museum said.

The aircraft will approach from the south before departing towards the east and north-east on its return to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

"The museum is home to iconic aircraft from more than a century of RAF history, but there's nothing quite like seeing and hearing an historic aircraft like the Dakota flying overhead," a spokesperson said.

The BBMF operates from RAF Coningsby and its mission is to keep historic aircraft airworthy as a living tribute to those who served during the war.

Its fleet includes five Spitfires, two Hurricanes, a Dakota, the world‑famous Lancaster bomber and two Chipmunk training aircraft, flown by regular and reserve RAF aircrew between May and September.

Earlier this year, the BBMF celebrated 50 years since it arrived in Lincolnshire, with the squadron being based at RAF Coningsby since 1 March 1976.

The museum said the flypast was an "extra special treat" for visitors who could also experience its RAF aircraft up close.
