What is the role of a zoo in the 21st Century? Roma Wells visits Bristol Zoo Project to find out. In 2022, Bristol Zoo Gardens, one of the world's oldest zoos, closed after its 12-acre site could no longer meet modern animal welfare standards. In its place, the organisation created a new vision centred on conservation, education and larger habitats for wildlife. After more than three years of work, the Travel Show explores the project's new African Forest Habitat and visits the gorillas' new home.
