CCTV shows shoplifter tackled to the floor by off duty PC

A shoplifter was tackled to the floor by an off duty police officer after filling his bag with bars of chocolate.

CCTV captured the moment PC Parkinson, from Southampton's City Arrest Team, apprehended wanted shoplifter Jamie Toone in Tesco Express in Spring Road.

PC Parkinson was on the way to the barbers after finishing his shift on 6 May, when he spotted the wanted man in the car in front and followed him into the store.

Toone, of Victoria Road, Southampton, admitted seven counts of theft from a shop at Southampton Magistrates' Court on 7 May. He is due to be sentenced on 27 May.
