How Cuba is addressing its housing crisis with shipping containers
A new initiative in Cuba is transforming shipping containers into homes to combat Cuba's housing crisis. The containers are being repurposed to include two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathrooms and patios.
Delilah Díaz Fernández, housing director general at Cuba's Ministry of Construction, said that more than 2,000 containers destined to become homes have been approved by the government, with 700 currently being converted.
BBC's Will Grant visited Barrio Toledo, where the emerging community of container homes is being developed.
