Everlasting jobstopper? Oompa Loompa's U-turn
An actor who announced his retirement after one final appearance as an Oompa Loompa has revealed he hopes to return to the chocolate factory once more.
Rusty Goffe, who starred in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, recently told the BBC that Netflix's Wonka's The Golden Ticket would be his "swan song", but now says "the door is open" to future roles.
Reflecting on the latest Wonka series, the 78-year-old from Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire said he was moved to hear the "voice" of Gene Wilder, who played Willy Wonka in 1971, which was recreated using AI a decade after the actor's death.
Asked if he would return for another series, Goffe said: "Yes, and the one after that, and one after that."
