Submerged reservoir road reappears during drought
A road that was flooded during the construction of a reservoir has reappeared due to falling water levels.
The structure was gradually submerged over a number of years during the filling of Alton Water in Suffolk, which was completed in 1987.
It was part of a route that used to connect Ipswich in Suffolk and Manningtree in Essex, and has re-emerged briefly before, including in 2022.
Officials have declared 71.3% of England - including East Anglia - is in drought, after the nation recorded its driest July since records began in 1836.
