Church bells heard for first time in 100 years

The peal of a full set of church bells has been heard across a rural parish for the first time in a century.

St Nicholas' Church in Swafield, near North Walsham in Norfolk, has had its four medieval bells reinstalled after they were restored in Somerset.

The bells were blessed by the Reverend Sally Myers, who has named them Love and Joy, Peace and Hope - partly in honour of the weddings they will celebrate.

Villagers are being invited to request that the church, which is home to St Nicks' Arts Centre, rings the bells on birthdays and anniversaries.
