Flight passenger captures eclipse at 35,000ft

A passenger on a flight taking off from East Midlands Airport managed to capture a bird's eye view of the eclipse.

Daniel McGuirk, 33, from Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, said he was 35,000ft (10,668m) in the air on his way to Lanzarote when the eclipse took place on Wednesday evening.

Those watching the astronomical phenomenon from the UK were treated to a partial eclipse, with more than 90% of the Sun covered by the Moon.

However, parts of Greenland, Iceland and Spain experienced the complete darkness and spectacle of a total eclipse.
