Newborn calf rescued after tumbling into river
A calf has been rescued by firefighters after it fell into a river "straight after being born".
Daisy the calf was spotted in Jubilee Park, in Whetstone, Leicestershire, on Tuesday evening by a member of the public, who alerted the fire service.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the calf had fallen into slurry and mud, and was rescued using an inflatable sled to bring it back to safety.
Daisy was warmed up with heated blankets and transferred to a vet, before being taken to the farmer. A spokesperson for the fire service said: "If you see an animal in distress, please contact the appropriate animal welfare organisation."
