Two 18-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a crash involving a car and an off-road bike.

Police were called to Pen Cae Crwn Road, Gorseinon, Swansea at 12:58 BST on Thursday where a man, believed to be an 18-year-old from Swansea, was pronounced dead.

Another man, aged 19, was taken to hospital with injuries.

A man from Morriston has been arrested on suspicion of murder, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving while unfit through drugs, and driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

Another man, from Gorseinon, has also been arrested on suspicion of murder and Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

They both remain in police custody.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said it was called to two incidents in Gorseinon on Thursday, one at 12:59 and another at 13:10.

It said a patient was taken to hospital in the first incident after an air ambulance was called to the scene.

The incident led to a major traffic build-up in and around Gorseinon - north-west of Swansea - which continued throughout Thursday afternoon.

A BBC reporter on the scene said traffic was bumper to bumper, with several roads closed during rush-hour traffic - but police confirmed on Friday that all closed roads had reopened.

Residents were earlier told to stay in their homes.

Det Ch Insp Danielle Thorne, from South Wales Police, said the force's thoughts and condolences remained with the "family and loved ones of those involved in this incident".

"I would like to thank the people of Gorseinon and those who either witnessed the incident or who have been near the scene for the support that they have shown our officers during this investigation, which has included providing water and sun cream. Our officers are extremely grateful," she said.

"We are aware of social media footage circulating from this incident, and ask people to not share this for obvious reasons. Our investigation continues and an increased policing presence in the area is likely to be seen for quite some time."

She also urged witnesses to get in touch with police.
