Elderly woman seriously injured in park dog attack

A woman in her 80s has suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a dog attack, police say.

The woman remains in hospital after she was bitten in the leg by a dog in French Weir Park, in Taunton, at about 16:10 BST on Wednesday.

Avon and Somerset Police said a 42-year-old man remains in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control.

The dog, of unknown breed, has been seized and remains in police kennels.
