A man has been arrested after a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in a suspected hit and run.

Police were called to reports of a 45-year-old man being hit by a blue Range Rover as he crossed Freeman Street, Grimsby, at about 23:45 BST on Saturday, before the driver left the scene in the car.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said a 37-year-old man had been "arrested on suspicion of several road traffic offences".

The incident happened at the junction with Wood Street. Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
