Vehicles seized in police crackdown

A total of 21 drivers have been dealt with for motoring offences as part of a targeted operation by police in Wolverhampton.

Officers were joined by staff from the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency and forensic marking firm Datatag to focus on commercial vehicles.

Vehicles pulled over during the operation on Wednesday included cars, vans, flatbed lorries and even a skip loader.

West Midlands Police said five vehicles were seized for having no insurance, while others were found with illegal tints on their windows - which were peeled off on-site.

Other drivers were reported for offences such as not wearing seatbelts, using a mobile phone, vehicles being too heavy and not having road tax or MOT.

Some were also reported for having insecure loads or carrying loads which were too heavy.

"We carry these out on a regular basis around Wolverhampton, the Black Country and the wider West Midlands as we work together to create safer roads for everyone," the force said.
