Boy, 4, dies after car and off-road bike crash
BBCA four-year-old boy has died after a car and an off-road bike were involved in a crash in Newark.
Nottinghamshire Police said emergency services were called to Churchill Drive at about 18:00 BST on Sunday after receiving reports of a collision.
The boy, who was a passenger on the off-road bike, was declared dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old man who was riding on the same bike suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, and has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
A police spokesperson said in a statement the driver of the car "remained at the scene and gave an account to police", while an investigation has found the bike "had moments earlier been seen travelling in convoy with a second bike, whose rider left the scene prior to officers' arrival".
A 32-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information or footage to get in touch.
Det Insp Jamie Moore said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the boy's loved ones at this incredibly distressing time."
