Former police officer admits child image offence
BBCA former Suffolk Police officer has admitted a child image offence.
Robert Askew, 27, of Quay's Road in Risby, near Bury St Edmunds, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court earlier where he pleaded guilty to a count of making an indecent photograph, namely a category C video.
He was arrested in August 2024 after police received information regarding the uploading of illegal material online, and he was immediately suspended with pay from the force.
Askew resigned in April and has been remanded on conditional bail, ahead of sentencing at the same court on 13 July.
Deputy chief constable Dan Vajzovic said: "This former probationary officer's actions were abhorrent and undermine the fantastic work of so many of our officers and staff in protecting our communities.
"The public rightly expects the highest standards of behaviour from both police officers and staff, and we remain steadfast in our determination to continue to root out those who betray the confidence of the community we serve and fellow colleagues."
