One of the UK's biggest fencing clubs is looking for a new venue after two decades at its current home.

Reading Fencing Club has been based at Reading Blue Coat School (RBCS) in Sonning, Berkshire, for 20 years but, from September, the school will cease all external lettings.

In a statement on its website, the club said it would "need to find a new home after many very happy years based at RBCS".

But it said the "disappointing news" presented an opportunity to find "improved facilities and support the club's future growth".

Reading Fencing Club was founded in 1948 and was previously based in Winnersh before moving to RBCS in 2006.

It is run by ex-international fencers and has about 100 members.

A club spokesperson said: "We're currently looking at several options, including schools, sports centres, and other potential training spaces.

"Our priority is to find a venue that can accommodate our sessions, equipment, and the needs of all members."

Club sessions will continue as normal.
