Drivers were warned of long delays on the M6 near Wednesbury in the West Midlands after a car caught fire on the northbound carriageway.

Firefighters were called to junction nine on Thursday evening, National Highways said.

All lanes reopened shortly before 21:00 BST, after one lane and the exit slip road were shut.

There were about four miles of congestion with delays of 45 minutes leading up to the junction, a spokesperson added.
