Jobs in Jersey's private sector have stalled while public sector employment continues to rise, a report has found.

Statistics Jersey released its labour market report for December 2025 and found there was an annual increase of 120 jobs - the smallest increase in the last decade.

The total number of jobs stood at 64,680, with 54,730 of those in the private sector and 9,950 in the public sector.

Private sector jobs increased by 1,470 over six years, up by about 22% since December 2019, compared to 1,820 for public sector jobs.

Growth was seen in education, health and other services, compared to a decline in the hospitality and construction sectors.

Three-quarters of all jobs were full-time and 10% were zero-hour contracts.

A total of 86% of jobs were filled by people with entitled or entitled for work status, and jobs filled by licensed staff increased by 110 compared to December 2024.
