Major route closed due to 'serious incident'

A major A-road is closed while emergency services deal with what the BBC understands is a serious incident.

Regent Street on the A420 in Kingswood, Bristol, has been shut by Avon and Somerset Police, with the South Western Ambulance Service also in attendance.

Images shared online show a cordon outside the Kings Chase Shopping Centre.

In a brief statement, a spokesperson for the police said officers are at the scene and the road is closed in both directions.
